Opinion:

To be honest I am not a big fan of mindless shooters that have no story, or goals other than a high score. But I have to give it to Geometry Wars, it is undoubtedly the best of its kind... absolutely brilliant evolution of Asteroid to date.

It is not a single part that makes Geometry Wars so bloody addictive (no I am not British), it is the culmination of its visuals, music, and controls.
The mission is simple... kill or be killed. The entirety of gameplay consists of dodging enemies, while shooting them in the face, and racking up the score.

Differently shaped enemies have different abilities, some are faster, some pull you towards them, others move in unpredictable patterns.  When things heat up, the game board turns into a mesmerizing light show. Sparks, and colors fly everywhere, while you spray and pray while kiting the enemies.  It feels absolutely amazing when you kill a pully circle, which in a wicked explosion morphs the whole gameboard, all while an addictive techno beat is keeping you on your toes.

Bravo Bizarre Creations, you turned a simple game into a masterpiece.
